Overview

Plauto is a project planning tool that organizes projects into small tasks and creates effective timelines. After users upload their project descriptions and possible deadlines, Plauto generates a comprehensive plan and gives users the freedom to customize their schedule and milestones according to their future preferences and availability.

Background

Our team's common goal is to improve productivity. Through initial user research and interviews, we discovered that project planning can be tedious, and no single platform can address all the challenges. While existing project planning platforms offer a range of services, many new managers find the learning curve too steep

How might we leverage AI to automate project planning while maintaining room for user creativity and critical thinking?

To address this challenge, we created Plauto to assist project managers in reducing the manual and tedious aspects of project planning while giving them the ability to make additional adjustments to the automated plan.

Design Process

Needfinding

At this point, our project's focus was on "productivity," prompting us to focus on the current users' pain points surrounding productivity, including time management, project management, remote work, and automation. Our research uncovered several key findings:

• COVID-19 shifted work to remote settings, creating an increasing issue with work-life balance.
• There is an increased need for productivity products for efficient project management.
• There is a growth in automation, including AI, AR, and ML.

We deployed a one-week survey to our target audience to identify pain points related to existing productivity tools and potential applications for project management.

From our survey analysis below👇🏼, we found that there are problems related to:

• Time and attention management, which is somewhat solved by using methods such as do not disturb and ad blockers.
• Steep learning curves in project management applications.
